Fun Fact #1: Ballet began about 500 years ago in Italy, but it wasn’t until the late 1500s when the first full-scale ballet was performed in Paris, France where ballet really took off.

Fun Fact #2: Did you know that pointe ballet shoes are handmade? Some professional dancers can go through 20 pairs in a week. In fact, some can even wear out a pair in one hour.

Fun Fact #3: Did you know that a fouetté (French for “whipped”) is the hardest move in ballet? A fouetté is a pirouette turn with a circular whipping movement of the leg. A prima ballerina can complete 32 fouetté turns in a row.
